PRIVACY, EXPLAINED CLEARLY
Choose how you unlock your Vault.
Your entries, documents and original filenames are encrypted in your browser before they are sent for storage. Your choice of access changes who can unlock them.
A detail worth keeping safe: with Extra privacy, a forgotten passphrase cannot be recovered by Expat Legacy Secrets. You can save a recovery code in advance. Without your passphrase or that code, your encrypted information cannot be restored. Limited operating information, such as file size and storage dates, is still retained.

Do I have to fill in every section?
No. The sections are optional. Start with what is useful for your circumstances and add more at your own pace.
Does my family automatically get access?
No. Naming someone in the Family Backup Plan does not give them access. It helps you record who could help and the practical information they might need.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes, you can use the Vault through your phone’s browser and add a home-screen shortcut. You’ll need an internet connection, your sign-in code when requested and, if you chose Extra privacy, your passphrase to unlock it.
Is this a will or a legal service?
No. The Vault helps you organise information. It does not replace original legal documents, a will, professional advice or an emergency service.
